20-year-old Woman is Accused of Kidnapping Her Brother in South Salt Lake

South Salt Lake, Utah — A 20-year-old South Salt Lake woman was arrested early Monday morning and is now facing a felony kidnapping charge for allegedly taking her three-year-old brother.

Carmin Nelson was arrested for kidnapping a toddler after allegedly taking her sibling.

According to the probable cause statement issued by South Salt Lake Police, Nelson, her friend, and her father arrived at the victim’s home during an argument and removed the child.

The victim claimed she was taken out of a vehicle by Nelson’s friend before Nelson seized the youngster and placed him in her vehicle, while Nelson’s buddy allegedly held the woman against her will. Once the child was in the vehicle, the trio left and returned to the father’s home.

Police said Nelson returned to the location and reportedly admitted to the kidnapping. The infant was not damaged throughout the procedure. A witness recorded a video, which was later handed to the police.

Nelson was arrested on the previously listed offense.
