Could the new Red Bull Aeroscreen be an alternative to enclosed capsules in the powerboat racing…
“Hulkenberg says Red Bull Aeroscreen “more attractive” than Halo”
Nico Hulkenberg says the proposed Red Bull ‘Aeroscreen’ is a “more attractive” solution to Formula 1’s need for cockpit protection than the Halo.
One has to wonder would this concept be an alternative in the powerboat racing world as more and more emphasis is being put on safety would this type of design be worth looking at. While the driver would still be strapped in using a 5 point safety harness I could see this design which would replace the enclosed lids now being used as a much safer way for the driver to exit. Id like to hear from folks like Bob Wartinger on this design. All are welcome to chime in with your thoughts.
Obliviously this would be a radical new direction for high end powerboat race hulls but one that could not be that far off in near the future. This concept would not replace the existing rules and concepts being used today but would be an alternative where applicable.
