IOGP / F1 Champboat series returns for the 2017 Bay City Grand Prix former “Bay City River Roar”

BAY CITY, MI — It is no longer called the Bay City River Roar, but there’s still going to be plenty of noise on the Saginaw River this summer.

The 30th annual Bay City Grand Prix Presented by Bud Light takes place from Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25. Event officials expect the largest field of F1 ChampBoat powerboat racing teams in years with 17.

But for the first time in awhile, it’s going to come at a price. Sort of.

General admission at Veterans Memorial Park is $15 for a daily pass and $25 for a weekend pass. A Bud Light Tent and Beach Party ticket ranges from $25 for a day to $35 for the weekend, while VIP Hospitality Chalet is $35 and $55, respectively. Children ages 12 and under are free.

IOGP, which recently relaunched the F1 ChampBoat Series, stepped in to restore the Bay City River Roar, which was on the verge of shutting down after last year’s running.

More information, including a parking map, is available on the event’s website.
