Weekend Roundup: 30 F1 Boats showed up for the NGKF1 season opener.
Wow, what a weekend! with a record number of F1 boats at the NGK F1 season opener in Port Neches Texas, it didn’t take long for things to turn ugly before a first lap collision collected three boats on Sunday morning completely destroying all three boats. Mark Proffitt, Tracey Hawkins, and Travis Yates were all involved in a scary wreck. As of this writing, we have no official update on Travis but do wish him a speedy recovery as he was taken to an area hospital for observation.
Once the dust settled and things got back to normal it was the #20 of Ashton Rinker who would go onto claim victory in the F1 final on Sunday in a knock down drag out battle to the finish, passing Chris Fairchild late in the race for the checkered flag.
If the boat count at Port Neches was any indication of what’s to come this summer it’s going to be a wild ride for sure.
