FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LOCK HAVEN, PA: Members of the Delaware Valley Outboard Racing Association (DVORA) voted Wednesday night, June 3rd to cancel the 2020 Labor Day Regatta and postpone the 50th Lock Haven Area Jaycees Regatta until 2021. The 50th Lock Haven Area Jaycees Regatta will now be held on September 4 – 6, 2021. This decision did not come lightly to DVORA club members as this race site is near to everyone’s heart. Due to the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, complying to CDC guidelines and Governor Wolf’s recommendations for social distancing, racing at Lock Haven this year
would put at strain on the racers as well as the Lock Haven community.
“No decision has been made on if the Lock Haven Area Jaycees will host the annual carnival this year, but we are extremely thankful for all of their support over the last fifty years,” said President, Dave Breisacher. “We would like to support the Jaycees in any way we can at this time and look forward on working with them on putting together an outstanding 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2021.” Vice President, John Wlodarski comments, “safety is always our number one priority, and we needed to keep that in mind when making this decision. Safety for the racers, but most importantly, safety for the members of the Lock Haven community.”
DVORA will now turn its attention to the 2020 Fall Millville Regatta in Millville, NJ. This race is tentatively scheduled for the second weekend in October. The next DVORA meeting will take place on July 8, 2020 at 8pm.
