While there is a little bit of good news the cover photo taken by Matt Gallagher of Navesink Racing pretty much sums it up. Right off the jump as usual for 2020 things are pretty bleak when it comes to powerboat racing. There is good news and bad news, most of your traditional outboard racing such as the annual Lock Haven, PA Labor Day regatta were called off weeks ago due to the ongoing Pandemic. So for most east coast and weat coast hydroplane fans this coming holiday weekend is a wash.
We hate to be the one who rips the bandaid straight off but there it is that’s done now and out of the way. On to more positive things to do this weekend.
Good news If your a middwest powerboat racing fan, pack the car and head over to Wheatland, MO where Drag boats will be on the docket at Lucas Oil Speedway all weekend long with late model car racing also on the docket at the adjacent race track.
Back on the bad news side, outboard tunell boat racing along with Inboard Hydroplanes are all but done for 2020 as the Pandemic has pretty much wiped out both categories for the remainder of the season. H1 Unlimited has also gone dark so you can forget about that this long holiday weekend.
We wish that we had better news but at this point it is what it’s so our advice is to pull out the grill, slap down a few burgers, bratwurst and chill in the backyard this weekend. Looking ahead to better days let’s hope for a much more traditional 2021 and here’s to a safe holiday weekend. Be good everyone, we’ll be back next week with highlights as they come in but don’t expect much.
