Breaking: After an absence due to Covid the Bradenton Area River Regatta is set to return in February 2022

High-speed watercraft will be back roaring through the waters of the Manatee River this winter with myriad other activities taking place along the Bradenton Riverwalk and Palmetto shoreline.

The Bradenton Area River Regatta, the largest single-day spectator event in Manatee County with more than 120,000 attendees reported in 2020, announced Wednesday it will return Feb. 12, 2022. The Bradenton City Council and Palmetto City Commission unanimously approved the return of the popular event, which was canceled this year in an abundance of caution due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ISM-USA sports management firm, which has produced River Regatta since it debuted in 2015, said that attendees can expect the same full lineup of high-speed watercraft racing, family-fun interactive activities, and national music entertainment from dawn to dusk. The event will be entirely free, with Zambelli International returning to supply the fireworks finale. The featured attraction will again be the high-speed racing of the nimble F-2 Powerboats of the Powerboat Super League.
