Tuesday 1st November 2022
Adam Brown again was the 1st run of the day to set a record which saw him increase his World and British National Record in the Diesel Outboard Outright class to 61.53mph.
Graham Leech from Yorkshire is no stranger to Records Week and already holds several World and National Class water speed records. Today Graham set a new National Aquabike Runabout 4-Stroke Stock Class record at 81.51mph. Unfortunately, later in the day Graham, during another attempt at the record, Graham’s engine developed issues that transpired to be terminal for Graham’s attempts on Tuesday. Thankfully, always prepared Graham has another 2 Jetskis with him in Coniston ready to take to the water later in the week.
Toward the end of day 2, as with yesterday the wind dropped and gave the smaller circuit boats a chance to get on the water. First in the circuit classes was George Elmore who at 16 is one of the youngest drivers of the week after establishing a new British National record yesterday this afternoon George increased the National Clubman Circuit 1000 Monohull class to 48.35.
As the water conditions improved so did the speeds with George Elmore’s teammate Ben Jelf establishing a new British National Record at 113.29mph in the National F2 200 APX class.
The Fasted run of the day was Sam Whittle who set a new National Record in the Formula Grand Prix class at 126.20mph. Sam is hoping to achieve over 132mph later in the week to break a World Record which is currently held by his Father Keith.
With 30 entries signed by the end of Tuesday, further records may need to wait until a band of strong wind and showers has passed through on Wednesday. But there is no shortage of drivers and teams that are poised to make history.
