Boone County, Kentucky —On Thursday evening, a man from Florence was detained in Boone County as part of a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) investigation.
According to court documents, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received a report from the NCMEC on February 26 alleging that an unidentified person living in Boone County uploaded 14 files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to a “Google Photos infrastructure” between September 1, 2023, and February 16, 2024.
According to the NCMEC, 12 of the 14 files represented a kid under the age of 12, while the remaining two depicted a youngster under the age of 18 but older than 12.
According to court filings, a search warrant was acquired after the Google account reportedly pinged an address in the 1100 block of Periwinkle Drive in Florence.
During the investigation, Kendall Siffel, 23, allegedly admitted to “using a messaging platform to view, possess, and distribute ‘a lot’ of child pornography in exchange for money,” according to a BCSO news release. The sheriff’s office stated that deputies seized “nine electronic devices.”
Siffel was arrested on Thursday and charged with 12 counts of possessing or watching material depicting a sexual performance by a kid under the age of 12, as well as two counts of possessing or viewing material depicting a sexual performance by a minor under the age of 18.
Siffel was taken to the Boone County Detention Center, where he was reportedly held on a $50,000 cash bond.
