Race Day Live (Washington DC) –  Twin Brothers Tragically Lose Lives as Truck Falls from Bridge into Potomac River, According to Sister

Authorities have confirmed the identities of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives when a truck fell into the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., revealing that they were twin brothers.

A tragic accident took place at approximately 7 p.m. local time on Thursday, Jan. 16, involving a truck that collided with another vehicle on the Arlington Memorial Bridge.

The vehicle suddenly swerved to the left, plunging off the bridge and into the depths below.

Nikki Windsor has identified the two individuals in the truck as her brothers, Jerel and Jerod Wert, hailing from Chesapeake Beach, Md.

At the time of the incident, the 52-year-old siblings were en route to a work assignment in the District of Columbia, according to her statement.

According to her, Jerod, who works as an HVAC mechanic, was behind the wheel while Jerel, a carpenter, occupied the passenger seat at the time of the accident.

“They were very hard workers, especially Jerod,” Windsor said, noting that her brother “loved his family.” Jerel, she continued, “loved his music, his guitars.”

According to Windsor, the twins recently marked their birthday on December 11. “They arrived as a pair and departed as one,” she remarked.

Footage from a dashboard camera, recorded by witness Nigisti Adane, revealed the instant a white pick-up truck seemed to graze another vehicle before plunging off the bridge in mere seconds.

“The truck went straight down. It looked like it went straight down,” Adane said.

Approximately 20 minutes following the crash, one of the brothers was retrieved from the water. He subsequently passed away at the medical facility.

On Friday, Jan. 17, authorities reportedly recovered the body of the second brother from the truck submerged in the river. The timing of the recovery of each brother remains uncertain.

The inquiry into the accident is currently in progress.
