72-Year-Old Smiths Station Man Sentenced for Firing Shots at Children Fishing at Lake

LEE COUNTY, Alabama – A man from Smiths Station, 72 years old, was given a 12-month and 45-day jail sentence after admitting to reckless endangerment and harassment. This was because, in March, he allegedly fired a. 22-caliber rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun at two children who were fishing at a public lake.

After the March 20 episode, Bradley Mangram was first charged with reckless endangerment because police say he fired indiscriminately at the children, putting them at a high risk of serious injury. During the same argument, Mangram is said to have grabbed someone by the shirt, which led to another abuse charge.

Mangram said he was guilty of both charges on October 24. Part of his sentence was to spend 12 months and 45 days in jail. He will start serving his time right away, with a review meeting planned for February 2025. He will also be on probation for two years and not be able to talk to the victims.
