8-Year-Old Boy Dies After Statue Topples at Arizona Hotel

1 min read

Phoenix cops say an 8-year-old boy died when a statue outside the fancy Arizona Biltmore hotel fell on him and killed him.

A boy was hit in the head by a statue five days ago and was taken to the hospital. His death was reported on Monday. His name was kept secret.

Tuesday, police said they had ruled out foul play but were still trying to figure out why the statue fell apart and how it hit the boy.

Frank Lloyd Wright built the Biltmore Hotel, which is part of a 39-acre resort that spans the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and has views of palm trees and mountain ranges.

NBC station KVOA of Tucson said the statue was one of 19 “solemn sprites” that were on the resort’s grounds. People say that the sprites look like mythical creatures that reflect the natural world.

The resort said in a statement on Tuesday that they were “deeply saddened” by the family’s death and would help the police with their investigation.

This was a tough time for them, and we wish them peace and value their right to privacy.
