An 8-year-old girl is safe inside her Ohio home after taking her mother’s car and driving to a neighboring Target, according to authorities.
Bedford police issued a Facebook post on Sunday morning about the young girl’s Target run.
“Well I’ve finally found a woman who’s in more of a hurry to shop at Target than my wife,” the Facebook post adds. “More of (a) haste by eight years. That’s true, an 8-year-old hijacked mommy’s car this morning and drove to Target in Bainbridge to shop.”
The 8-year-old told police she hit a mailbox.
According to the social media post, the girl arrived at the store and was quickly apprehended by Bainbridge, Ohio police. According to WJW, officers discovered her mother’s 2020 Nissan Rogue in the store parking lot.
“Not sure what she bought, or if she was even able to use her Target app to save 5%,” cops stated in the post. “We did allow her to finish her Frappuccino.” “We are not mean.”
The youngster was not hurt during her trip, but she informed officers she “struck a mailbox,” according to WJW.
Police did not disclose how far the girl drove, but WJW used Google Maps to establish that the store was more than 10 miles from where she went missing, making her journey approximately 20 to 25 minutes long.
