California Orthodontist in Custody for Touching Young Boy Inappropriately in Orange County

Orange County, CA– An orthodontist in Orange County has been taken into custody following accusations of years of molestation involving a young boy.

Frank Joseph Mogavero, Jr., 63, from San Clemente, faces allegations of molesting a young victim starting at the age of 4, as reported by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

In 2013, Mogavero faced allegations of inappropriate conduct involving the boy during their time in Mammoth Lakes, California. Years later in Orange County, he faced allegations of having inappropriately touched the boy “repeatedly” between 2018 and 2020, during the boy’s ages of 11 to 12.

Authorities have clarified that the victim does not have a patient relationship with Mogavero, but to safeguard his identity, the District Attorney’s Office is withholding details about the connection between the boy and Mogavero.

A suspect faces serious legal repercussions with five felony charges related to lewd acts against a minor under 14, along with an additional felony charge for possessing child pornography.

If found guilty on every charge, he could be sentenced to a maximum of 16 years and 8 months behind bars. He remains in custody with no option for bail.

According to court documents, Mogavero has additional offices located in San Diego and Mammoth Lakes.

“The sexual abuse of an innocent child is something that should outrage our entire community and we will continue to do everything we can to continue to protect children from the monsters who seek to prey on them,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer.
