Three Charged After Bullet From AR-15 Strikes Little Torch Key Home: Authorities

Race Day Live (Little Torch Key, FL) – An AR-15 was fired at makeshift targets by three individuals in the Florida Keys, which resulted in one bullet entering a residence while two victims were inside. The victims were inside the residence at the time.

A gunshot was fired into a woman’s home at Little Torch Key on Pirates Road at approximately four o’clock in the afternoon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), which said that a woman called the authorities on January 9. According to the person who called, she was in her bedroom upstairs with her husband and their dogs when the bullet destroyed a window and a glass door. The caller also stated that the bullet broke a glass door.

While approaching the residence of the victim, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported hearing multiple active gunshots coming from Kings Cove Road. Upon arriving at the residence, they came across Robert Andrew Mayette, 51, Jessica Ellen Rene Hargrove, 27, and Nathan John David Charter-Kimberly, 26.

According to the deputies, Charter-Kimberly was in possession of a handgun and a Smith & Wesson AR-15 rifle. MCSO was informed by all three suspects that they were firing the rifle at a makeshift target range that was facing Pirates Road by the time the incident occurred.

Two counts of culpable negligence and unauthorized discharge of a firearm were filed against each of the three defendants after they were brought into custody.
