Police: Alabama Man Accused of Killing Virginia Couple in Chilling Case

Authorities in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, have arrested an Alabama man in connection with a double homicide.

The sheriff’s office reported that 61-year-old Danny Hale Sr., from Opelika, Alabama, has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Investigators say Hale fatally shot Charles Childress and Kimberly Newcomb in January. Their bodies were found on January 25 at their home on Heatherwood Drive in Spotsylvania Courthouse by a friend who went to check on them.

Authorities believe Hale was acquainted with the victims. The investigation remains ongoing.
