An Oklahoma lady is in police custody after allegedly attempting to drown her daughter and nephew at a public pool earlier this summer.

Flor Ontiveros, 34, was accused of “smiling” and disregarding spectators who pleaded with her to stop holding the two toddlers underwater, according to an Oklahoma City Police Department incident report dated June 27.

Over the weekend, local KFOR and KOKH reported that Ontiveros had been charged with two charges of child abuse. According to the publications, Ontiveros’ daughter is four years old, and her nephew is six.

A representative for the Oklahoma City Detention Center confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday morning that Ontiveros is still in detention on a $250,000 bond. It is unclear whether she has retained an attorney or filed a plea.

According to the incident report, Ontiveros was taking her daughter and nephew to the Will Rogers Aquatic Center that afternoon when witnesses allegedly saw her holding the youngsters underwater for an extended amount of time.

According to a witness, Ontiveros was seen holding her nephew’s “entire body and head underneath the water” and said “that multiple people were yelling at her” to stop.

According to the event report, when the youngster was ultimately hauled out of the water, “he was unconscious and not breathing.”

One witness informed police Ontiveros allegedly “did not seem concerned” about the children “while the lifeguards performed CPR on them” and claimed the mother “was smiling during the incident.”

According to KFOR, both youngsters were taken to the hospital following the event and later recovered.
