In the early hours of the morning, chaos erupted in Compton as a street takeover escalated into violence, leaving Ruben’s Bakery, a local establishment with 48 years of history, ransacked and vandalized. The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. at 2701 N. Santa Fe Avenue, took a dangerous turn when a vehicle repeatedly rammed into the bakery’s door.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the street takeover involved around 100 people who forcefully entered Ruben’s Bakery after a white car continuously backed into the front door, creating an entry point. Disturbing footage from the bakery’s security cameras captured the scene as a mob of individuals engaged in looting, causing significant damage to the beloved local business.
Law enforcement authorities, upon arrival, witnessed multiple individuals fleeing the scene. Despite the severity of the incident, no arrests have been made as of now. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating whether the white Kia Soul used in the attack was involved in a pursuit earlier that day in the Carson area.

Last February, Olivares and his fiancée, third-grade teacher Claudia Rivas Cruz, were struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. Olivares lost his life, and Rivas Cruz sustained severe injuries. The suspect responsible for the tragedy was fleeing from another street takeover.
Expressing the need for urgency in addressing the escalating problem, Enomorado stated, “We need to have a sense of urgency to jump on this a little faster.” The emotional toll on families like Enomorado’s highlights the devastating consequences that can arise from the reckless activities associated with street takeovers.
