17-Year-Old Arrested for Bringing Concealed Gun to Coweta County Football Game

A 17-year-old was detained during a high school football game on Friday evening after being spotted with a concealed carry firearm, according to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a Facebook post by the Coweta County School System, Northgate High School Principal Ashley Wilkes stated that at 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Northgate vs. Newnan High School football game, CCSO deputies arrested an East Coweta High School student who was found to have a handgun.

Northgate school authorities and CCSO school resource officers observed a student in the home stands carrying what they believed to be a hidden firearm in his waistband. When approached, the student fled from law enforcement.

The student was apprehended, detained, and brought to the Coweta County Jail.
