Henderson, Kentucky — A convicted criminal is back in jail after being charged with firearms and trafficking in Owensboro.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, detectives carried out the warrant in the 2500 block of Ebach Street in response to reports of continuous drug trafficking.
According to officials, controlled purchases of marijuana and LSD from Matthew Newton occurred before the incident. During the search, detectives allegedly discovered and seized oxycodone, pounds of marijuana, Xanax, digital scales with residue, a Glock handgun with an extended magazine, clonazepam, empty vacuum-sealed bags containing marijuana residue, multiple rounds of ammunition, and US money.
According to officials, a further search of Newton’s vehicle uncovered additional drug paraphernalia, marijuana, weapons, and US money.
Newton was transported to the Daviess County Detention Center and charged with the following:
Marijuana Trafficking: First Offense (While Armed)
Trafficking Controlled Substances, Third Degree, First Offense (While Armed)
Possession of Controlled Substances, Third Degree (Unspecified Drug) (While Armed)
Possession of Controlled Substances: First Degree, First Offense (Opiates) (While Armed)
Trafficking Controlled Substances: First Degree, First Offense (LSD)
Trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces) First Offense
Possessing or purchasing drug paraphernalia while armed.
Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felons
