The National Weather Service forecasts that Oklahoma City will have high temperatures of 96 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, with heat indices that will exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon. The heat will get even more intense when the winds from the southwest kick up, reaching gusts of up to twenty miles per hour. This intense heat will continue throughout the week, with weather forecasters predicting temperatures that are comparable to those of Wednesday and Thursday.
It is important for residents to protect themselves from heat-related ailments, especially while they are spending time outside. Drinking a lot of water, wearing lightweight clothing, and avoiding direct sun exposure during the peak afternoon hours are all recommendations made by the National Weather Service (NWS).
