The water main along Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia has experienced yet another break, which is causing problems.
It took place on the morning of Tuesday, July 22, 2025, along the intersection of Cottman and Oxford Avenues. This occurred one day after a separate water main break had taken place that was only three miles away.
Water was seen pouring into the street at the scene, and it was visible to everyone.
In light of this new problem, the portion of Cottman Avenue that is located between Rising Sun Avenue and Bingham Street has been closed. There is a complete closure of all lanes, including side streets.
On Monday, July 21, at approximately three o’clock in the afternoon, another water main broke. According to the officials, crews were dispatched to the vicinity of Cottman Avenue and James Street in order to address the leak.
According to the officials, the leak was originating from a main that was eight inches in diameter. Workers had turned off the main power supply in order to make repairs.
Cottman Avenue is located above Franklin Street, which is closed. As a result of the repairs, officials have reported that a number of nearby businesses are currently functioning without water.
