A propane tank underwent an explosion in Griswold on Monday evening, resulting in the injury of one individual.
Around six o’clock in the evening, emergency crews were dispatched to Bitgood Road in response to a report of an explosion.
It was determined that the fire department was working on a propane tank explosion on Nowakowski Road which involved a vehicle that had become completely engulfed in flames, according to the state police, who stated that once they arrived in the area, they made the determination.
The explosion was caused by an unsecured propane tank that had been recently filled and was located in the bed of a pickup truck, according to police investigators with the Connecticut State Police. It was reported that the tank was releasing pressure, and the explosion took place when the owner of the pickup truck parked the vehicle and opened the tailgate.
According to the firefighters, the explosion caused one person to sustain burns.
There is a current investigation that is still going on.
