Blacksburg Heat Wave Continues: Highs Near 90°F with Severe Storms Possible Through July 29

Blacksburg, Virginia – Virginia is getting ready for a hot summer day in Blacksburg on Thursday, July 24. The high temperature will be near 86°F, and it will be sunny and hot. By noon, drivers on US-460 can expect the sun to be very bright and the road to be warmer, so be extra careful and don’t leave kids or pets in the car.

The National Weather Service says that Thursday will have mostly sunny skies and calm winds. By late morning, the temperature will have risen quickly. Since the UV index will be high, people should wear sunscreen and stay inside during peak hours. By Thursday night, it will still be warm; the temperature will drop to just 67°F with clear skies.

The summer weather watch stays in effect through Friday. The temperature will rise to around 90°F, and the first chance of scattered thunderstorms will happen after 2 p.m. Keep an eye on the sky if you plan to be outside or if you drive to work on US-460 or local roads. Quick storms could make the roads wet and cause sudden slowdowns. Saturday will be mostly sunny in the morning, with highs near 89°F. There may be more thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Blacksburg will have muggy and stormy weather this weekend through Sunday. There will be a few storms in the afternoon, and the high temperature will be around 88°F. The National Weather Service says there will be a chance of storms every day next week until Tuesday, July 29th.

Pay attention to the weather and drink a lot of water. If storm chances rise this weekend, there may be more warnings.
