TRENTON, N.J. — A chilly start to the week is ahead for residents across South and Central New Jersey, with a Frost Advisory in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. Early morning temperatures are forecast to drop to around 32°F, marking one of the coldest mornings of the fall season so far.
Frost Advisory Details
Meteorologists warn that widespread frost formation is likely across Mercer, Camden, Gloucester, Ocean, Burlington, and Cumberland Counties, as well as Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties in Maryland, portions of Delaware, and Lower Bucks County in Pennsylvania.
The NWS cautioned that the cold air could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left unprotected.
“Frost and freeze conditions could harm or kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the NWS said in its advisory.
Residents are urged to bring potted plants indoors or cover garden plants overnight with light blankets or frost cloths to help preserve them.
Coldest Morning of the Season So Far
Tuesday morning’s chill could be the first widespread frost event of the season for parts of the Delaware Valley. Calm winds and clear skies will allow temperatures to dip into the low 30s before sunrise, creating ideal conditions for frost development.
By late morning, temperatures will rebound into the low to mid-50s, bringing a crisp but pleasant afternoon.

Long-range forecasts suggest that early November could start colder than average, with more frequent frost and potential for the first freeze in southern New Jersey by next weekend.
