10-year-old Elementary Kid Died After an Apparent Medical Incident at a North Texas School

A North Texas elementary student died unexpectedly on the morning of October 8 following an apparent medical incident at school.

The fifth-grader from Donna Park Elementary in Hurst died around 9:20 a.m. at a North Richland Hills hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the address mentioned on the medical examiner’s website, the youngster was transferred to the hospital due to an apparent medical emergency at the school. His cause of death has not been identified, and the results of an autopsy are awaiting.

Julie McAvoy, principal of Donna Park Elementary in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, wrote an email to school families alerting them of the 10-year-old boy’s death and urged parents to assist their children at this time.

“It is normal for students to create a ‘story’ and fill in gaps when they do not know what’s going on, resulting in rumors,” the letter from McAvoy stated. “Feel free to let them know that you understand this is a sad situation, you love and care about them, and you do not have any additional information at this time.”

McAvoy stated that additional counselors will be available on campus for the remainder of the week to assist students and staff.
