Several people were hospitalized Friday night after a tiny plane collided with a vehicle on a Louisville roadway.

At 6:17 p.m., the Piper PA 28 was approaching a runway at Bowman Field to land when it crashed on Breckenridge Lane and struck the vehicle, according to Darrell Watson, senior vice president of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority.

According to Watson, the two passengers aboard the plane were transferred to a local hospital.

According to Louisville news station WDRB, one individual was brought to the hospital after being in the vehicle hit by the plane.

“The Louisville Regional Airport Authority, which owns and operates Bowman Field, is working with local authorities to support the response of this incident as needed,” Watson said in a note.

He stated that the first responders to the scene were St. Matthews police and fire services.

According to a spokesman from the St. Matthews Police Department, the road reopened late Friday. He stated that the injuries experienced by those engaged were not believed to be life-threatening.
