At midnight, the first votes in person for the New Hampshire general election were cast in Dixville Notch, where six people are registered to vote this year.

The race for president ended in a tie, with three votes each going to Harris and Trump. The polls opened at midnight and closed at 12:07 a.m. ET, when all the votes had been counted.

In this small town, voters have been putting their votes in a wooden box just after midnight since 1960. A few minutes later, the findings are made public.

Joe Biden got all five of the votes cast in Dixville Notch in the 2020 general election. In the 2024 Republican primary in New Hampshire, six people voted for Nikki Haley, who used to be the U.N. ambassador, but no one voted for Trump.
