Gasoline and Flames: Woman Charged with Attempted Murder in Brutal Assault

2 min read

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with murder after reportedly dousing another woman with gasoline while sitting on a couch and setting her on fire.

Savannah Renee Adams is suspected of killing Tiffany Nicole Dunford on November 17 in an outbuilding outside her Max Meadows, Virginia, home.

According to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, Dunford was sitting on the outdoor couch when the suspect pulled up in a silver Dodge Neon, poured gasoline on her, and set her on fire. The suspect then drove away from the location.

Officers arrived at the site to find the lady writhing in anguish with extensive burns all over her body. She was brought to the hospital and died the next day, according to authorities.

The Pulaski Police Department and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office arrested Adams on November 18.

She was initially charged with attempted second-degree murder and felonious assault, but after Dunford died, she was charged with first-degree murder, according to the sheriff’s office.

The reason is unclear, but Dunford and Adams are thought to be acquaintances, according to WSLS.

Adams was on bond at the time of the suspected murder, having been charged with assault for allegedly hitting another lady in the head with a metal pipe, according to the Bristol Herald Courier.

Adams is currently jailed without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.

Dunford’s cousin, Nicole Reyna, told WFXR News, “This is upsetting for me and my family. She felt like a sister to me.

“Everybody always said to me, me and my cousin looked alike and I know that the Lord’s looking over her now and she’s not suffering in pain.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office at 276-223-6000.
