Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches are one of my family’s favorite items throughout the cooler months. This is a very simple dish, and I wanted to share it with you. You will require the following ingredients:
Recipe: Makes 4 sandwiches
3 tablespoons of butter, softened
Four slices of American cheese, or your preferred sort of cheese.
8-12 ounces of thinly sliced deli ham.
Preheat a big skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Place the ham and cheese on one slice of bread, then cover it with another.
Take a butter knife and spread a small layer of butter on the top side of the bread, then set the sandwich, butter side down, on the heated skillet.
Carefully spread butter on top of the bread in the skillet.
fry the sandwich until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and fry the second side till golden brown. Tip: Take care not to burn the sandwiches by using too high heat.
Remove the sandwich from the heat and cut in half. Enjoy!
Note: You can add dijon mustard to the sandwich, and I occasionally add fresh sliced tomatoes and lettuce after I’ve cooked it.
I prefer to serve this grilled ham and cheese sandwich with homemade soup or chili. It pairs well with chips and a pickle.
