Montgomery, AL – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is one of 30 present and upcoming state attorneys general who want the U.S. Senate to confirm Pam Bondi as the 87th Attorney General of the United States. Bondi, who used to be the attorney general of Florida, was chosen by President Trump to take over for Jeff Sessions.
Marshall said, “President Trump made a very smart choice when he chose Pam Bondi to be the next Attorney General of the United States.” “Pam has the heart of a prosecutor. I’ve known her for a long time.” People will trust the Department of Justice again because she will bravely uphold the law. To make the rule of law great again, I’m excited to work with Attorney General Bondi.
The bipartisan coalition wrote a message to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Minority Whip John Thune praising Bondi’s many years of experience as a lawyer and her ability to lead.
“Many of us have worked with Attorney General Bondi and have seen for ourselves how smart she is as a lawyer, how much she cares about justice, and how dedicated she is to the rule of law,” the letter says. “She is a great choice to serve our country and the public good.”
The letter talks about Bondi’s accomplishments as Florida’s Attorney General, especially what she did to help during the drug crisis. It talks about how she led the fight against pill mills, held drug companies responsible, and pushed for bans on manufactured drugs. Bondi’s work to stop human trafficking was also praised, and the group pointed out that she helped make it easier for the law to protect victims and bring traffickers to justice.
The letter goes on to say, “General Bondi is exceedingly well prepared to be the 87th United States Attorney General.” “She will bring to the job a strong work ethic and a unique mix of civil and criminal experience.” However, the most important thing is that she will always support the rule of law.
Attorneys general from 28 more states have joined the coalition, which is led by South Carolina and Florida. These states are Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
The Senate hasn’t set a date for Bondi’s confirmation hearing yet, but the coalition’s backing shows that many state leaders agree with her appointment.
