The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has shared new details about the shooting death that happened in Port Orange on Saturday night.

Deputies said a man from Port Orange was shot and killed after he drove his truck at two people in a neighborhood fight.

At 7:40 p.m., the shooting was reported on Jackson Lane, which is off Tomoka Farms Road and west of Port Orange.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver, later named as Marcus Blicker, 47, began following and swerving randomly at two cars driven by a neighbor’s son and his friend after the friends drove past his house.

The son called his dad to tell him that someone was following him. When they got to the house, Blicker pulled up next to them and yelled and threatened the two parents.

Police say Blicker’s father went outside with a gun, told him to leave, and fired several warning shots into the air.

Blicker’s truck went backward for a moment and then sped forward toward the father and someone else who was close by. As the truck drove toward them, the father fired several shots at it. Deputies said the truck stopped in the front yard.

When the police arrived, they found the driver dead in the front seat of the pickup truck.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the event was recorded on video and audio, which backed up what the shooter and bystanders said.

During the shooting, Blicker’s Rottweiler dog was hurt, but it is expected to get better.

Volunteers from Volusia County Animal Services came and took the dog to the vet.

At this point, the shooter has not been charged with a crime.
