We can still see a strong cold front moving across northern Florida. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are coming up behind it. Thunder is rumbling in the area, and heavy rain is moving quickly from west to east, soaking the same places from Cedar Key, FL to Jacksonville.
The big story is that very cold air is going to come in overnight across most of the Southeast, the Gulf Coast, and north Florida. It is getting cold enough that the National Weather Service has issued frost alerts and freeze warnings for most of the Florida panhandle and north Florida tonight through tomorrow morning. Temperatures are in the low to mid-30s.
Some parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and even the southeast tip of North Carolina are under frost and freeze warnings or watches. Temperatures will likely be below freezing tonight and tomorrow morning.
Overall, it will be very cold over the next couple of weeks, and more shots of very cold, arctic air are likely to come through until the middle of December. In the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, the chances of snow getting worse during this time could also rise.
