Arizona Authorities Crack Down on Train Robbers Behind Nike Shoe Heist!

Police have made additional arrests in connection with the recent train robberies in northern Arizona involving stolen Nike shoes, officials said.

On March 27, officers from the Hualapai Nation Police Department stopped a maroon Chevy Tahoe suspected of being linked to the robberies.

During the stop, eight people fled from the vehicle, while one man was detained. Nearby, officers discovered stolen Nike shoes.

As part of the investigation, police also stopped a white Toyota 4Runner on Highway 66. Officers noted signs of criminal activity connected to the train heists.

However, the woman driving the Toyota ignored police commands to exit the vehicle and instead sped off. During her escape, she struck a patrol officer, who was fortunately not injured.

Police pursued the Toyota for approximately 80 miles until the driver lost control in a construction zone on Interstate 40.

She collided with a guardrail, was ejected from the vehicle, and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Both the man detained from the Chevy Tahoe and the woman from the Toyota were booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Center.

Authorities did not specify the charges but confirmed that both individuals were in the U.S. illegally. The names of the suspects have not been released.

Train Robberies Resurface in Arizona and California

Train heists, a crime largely unheard of for over a century, resurfaced in Arizona in October 2024 when passengers on a BNSF train in Yavapai County reported burglaries. Two suspects were arrested soon after.

In December 2024, authorities found nearly $50,000 worth of stolen Nike shoes hidden near train tracks in Mohave County.

Four suspects were later charged with possession of stolen goods. A month earlier, thieves stole $300,000 worth of merchandise from trains in Southern California.

The thefts continued into 2025. On January 13, police arrested 11 people—nine of whom were Mexican nationals—suspected of stealing and stashing unreleased Nike shoes. These suspects were also reported to have traveled in a Chevy Tahoe.

Authorities have not confirmed which specific train robberies the two suspects arrested on March 27 were involved in or if a larger group is behind the crimes.
