Black Voters Matter Pushes for Change with Powerful ‘BVM Days at the Capitol’ Tour

In 2025, Black Voters Matter (BVM) will focus on strengthening local political engagement by hosting its annual BVM Days at the Capitol across nine states: Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

These events, running from February 25 through May, aim to bring together state and local partners, community leaders, stakeholders, and concerned citizens to engage with policymakers and push for key legislative changes affecting the Black community.

The focus will be on protecting voting rights, improving access to quality healthcare, and addressing issues such as climate change, DEI policy protection, and HBCU funding.

Amid a challenging political climate, BVM remains committed to defending the rights of Black and marginalized voters.

As the new administration’s tactics create political unrest, BVM is reinforcing its grassroots organizing efforts and demanding that lawmakers stand up to President Donald Trump and Washington’s elite.

On March 19, BVM demonstrated its strength at the Texas State Capitol, where it addressed issues like education, voter suppression, environmental justice, criminal justice reform, and reproductive rights.

“We know the challenges facing Black communities don’t begin or end on Election Day. Our mission to build power in these communities continues year-round,” said Cliff Albright, BVM co-founder and executive director.

“BVM Days at the Capitol is a chance to show how we can influence local policies that ultimately shape federal decisions.

We’ve faced these types of challenges before — white supremacy isn’t new. We know how to fight back, and now is the time to organize and hold local leaders accountable.”
