MIFFLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Weekend storms brought heavy rain and strong winds, causing tornadoes to touch down in parts of Pennsylvania and damaging several properties, including the Lewistown Driver License Center, which is now closed for repairs.
According to PennDOT, the center at 13217 Ferguson Valley Road in Yeagertown suffered roof damage and interior issues that need to be fixed.
The center will be closed on Tuesday, March 18, and is expected to reopen on Tuesday, March 25, during regular hours.
PennDOT Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services Kara Templeton said, “Due to the significant damage from this weekend’s storms, we need to close the facility for repairs.
We know this is inconvenient for customers who rely on the Lewistown center, but we’re working to complete the repairs quickly.
We’re also extending hours at the Huntingdon Driver License Center to make sure customers in the area have continued access.”
Residents who need services this week can visit the Huntingdon Driver License Center at 9048 William Penn Highway, Suite 1, in Huntingdon. That center will have extended hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
PennDOT also mentioned that employees from the Lewistown center will be temporarily reassigned to the Huntingdon center while repairs are underway.
