Costa Mesa Man Charged with Murder After Allegedly Killing Girlfriend, Then Watching TV, Says D.A.

A guy from Costa Mesa is being charged with killing his girlfriend and putting her body in a trash can. New, gross, and upsetting evidence has been presented in his case.

There was a fight between Daniel Allen Aldrich, 49, and his girlfriend Julie Anne Sanetra, 38, on October 20 after they had been drinking, and the Orange County district attorney’s office says that Daniel killed Julie Anne.

The office says that he cut her wrist with a pocket knife and then watched TV and went to bed while her body lay on the couch. Prosecutors say he put her body in the trash when he woke up the next morning before packing his bags and going to Glendale to stay with his mother.

His office said that on Monday he was charged with one felony count of murder and one felony enhancement for the personal use of a weapon in the death. He could get anywhere from 26 years to life in jail if he is found guilty as charged.

In a statement, Dist. Atty. Todd Spitzer said, “Julie Sanetra did not deserve to be strangled and thrown into a trash can like trash.” “We will do everything we can to get justice for Julie and her family. This crime is so cruel that it hurts our hearts.”

The people hired to mow Aldrich’s yard on October 22 found Sanetra’s body partially hanging out of the trash by his house in the 1900 block of Maple Avenue. They called the Costa Mesa Police Department, according to the police department and the district attorney’s office.

Police and the office say that Aldrich was taken that night at his mother’s house in Glendale, which is in the 3700 block of El Lado Drive.

His $1 million bail has not been paid yet, and he is being held until his arraignment on Nov. 19.
