‘Demonic Stare’: Father Stabbed While Heading to Halloween Fest, Children Help Fight Off Attacker

RAMONA, CALIFORNIA — A California father is crediting his two young children with saving his life after he was stabbed multiple times in a brutal road-rage attack while driving to a Halloween festival earlier this month.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser created by his family, 38-year-old Chris Davison was attacked on October 17 while traveling with his 6-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son in Ramona, a small town in San Diego County. What began as a family outing to a pumpkin patch quickly turned into a nightmarish act of random violence.

Family Outing Turns into Horror

Davison’s wife described the terrifying ordeal in detail on the fundraiser page, writing:

“On October 17th, our lives changed forever. My husband, Chris, was taking our two young children to a pumpkin patch when an unprovoked act of violence turned a normal family outing into a living nightmare.”

Davison told ABC 10News San Diego that he noticed a black pickup truck following closely behind him for several miles along the highway, revving its engine and driving aggressively. Twice, the truck allegedly forced Davison’s vehicle off the road before both vehicles came to a stop.

The driver, later identified by authorities as Noah Kane, exited his truck and immediately lunged at Davison with a knife, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

“There wasn’t a word spoken — just this demonic stare in the man’s eyes,” Davison recalled.

Children Rush to Save Their Father

The attack left Davison bleeding from multiple stab wounds and collapsing near his car while his two terrified children watched. Despite the chaos, the kids’ quick thinking and bravery made all the difference.

His 8-year-old son first grabbed a dinosaur sticker to try to cover one of the wounds, before realizing he needed something stronger to stop the bleeding. He then found a phone charger cord and tied it around his father’s arm as a makeshift tourniquet.

Meanwhile, Davison’s 6-year-old daughter used her princess dress to help stop the bleeding and hung halfway out of the car window, screaming for help from passing drivers.

“My son was screaming, ‘Stay awake, Dad. Stay awake,’” Davison said, recalling the moment he drifted in and out of consciousness.

A close family friend who had been following them on a motorcycle arrived just moments later, cleaned the blood off Davison’s phone, and called 911.

Suspect Arrested After Violent Attack

The California Highway Patrol confirmed that Noah Kane was later arrested and charged in connection with the assault. Authorities have not released a motive for the violent road-rage attack, and investigators are still piecing together what triggered the suspect’s outburst.

Davison was rushed to a local hospital where doctors determined his injuries, though severe, were not life-threatening. He was released days later to continue recovering at home.

His wife described his survival as “nothing short of a miracle.”

“His injuries were severe, but somehow no major organs were hit. We truly believe God was with him that day,” she wrote. “He’s now home recovering, surrounded by the people who love him.”

Family Faces Long Road to Recovery

Although Davison survived the ordeal, his wife said the emotional scars may take far longer to heal. Their children, who witnessed the entire attack, are now beginning trauma therapy as part of their recovery process.

“Our children witnessed everything,” she shared. “We are now facing the long road of trauma therapy, medical follow-ups, and lost income while Chris heals.”

The family’s GoFundMe has been set up to help cover medical bills, therapy costs, and lost wages as Davison continues his recovery. Supporters across the country have already donated thousands to help the family rebuild after the tragedy.

Community Praises Children’s Courage

Neighbors and friends have called the two children heroes, praising their courage and quick action in saving their father’s life. Law enforcement officials also commended the kids’ response, saying their immediate actions likely prevented a potentially fatal outcome.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack, while Davison says he is focused on healing and spending time with his family.

“I’m alive because of my kids,” he said. “They didn’t freeze — they saved me.”
