Although Hurricane Milton did not hit Central Florida, hundreds are still dealing with the aftermath, including rolling power outages.

Duke Energy Florida has been working for several days to restore power during Hurricane Milton.

According to the company, as of Sunday, outages had fallen from more than 1 million to around 390,000.

“People lose electricity, and we turn their lights back on. “Get them back to normalcy,” said J.W. Bitzer, a Duke Energy lineman.

Duke Energy reported that over 16,000 linemen have been working around the state with contractors and tree cutting teams to restore power that Milton’s severe winds knocked out.

Stasko stated that the firm has achieved its target of restoring 95% of the electricity in Volusia and Orange Counties, but there is still work to be done.

“We understand it can be extremely frustrating, but please know that these guys are working around the clock to restore power,” said Audrey Stasko, Duke Energy Florida Spokesperson.

The business stated that customers who have endured major damage or floods may require additional time for restoration.

Some clients may experience power outages due to damage to the property’s meter base, breaker panel, or customer-owned electrical wiring. Those individuals should seek help from their local communities. Inspections may be required once repairs are completed.
