Electra Mother and Daughter Arrested on Charges of Child Endangerment and Animal Cruelty

ELECTRA — Two Electra women are now facing various animal cruelty and child endangerment charges after police and animal control authorities discovered deplorable conditions inside a residence filled with neglected or deceased dogs and cats, as well as two toddlers living in filthy and dismal surroundings.

Aariyah Robinson was initially charged with resisting arrest and interfering with officers after police responded to a possible stabbing on East Summit on September 24.

She and another adult resident, Dyana Robinson, have been charged with ten charges of animal cruelty and two counts of child endangerment. Police believe Dyana is Aariyah’s mother.

Officers stated that there may be up to 23 acts of animal cruelty, but they chose to prosecute only the ten worst.

The conditions inside the house were discovered when police responded to the first stabbing report.

They alerted Electra Animal Control, who collected 19 dogs and four cats, as well as 10 dead animals from a freezer. Due to the large number of animals in need of treatment and shelter, they were transported to the Animal Reclaim Center in Iowa Park.

According to police, a 13-year-old, Dyana’s child, and a 2-year-old daughter were also living in unclean conditions.

They said Dyana Robinson informed them that the girl was only staying there temporarily and that her mother in Wichita Falls had never visited. They also stated that the 13-year-old was diagnosed with autism.

According to police, the number of soiled diapers and toys in the home indicated that the 2-year-old had been residing there for quite some time. Child Protective Services placed the youngsters under protective custody.

After obtaining the search and seizure warrant and entering the premises, an animal control officer described the conditions as the worst she had seen in an animal seizure case.

Officers reported that everything on the floors, blankets, and furniture was soaked in feces and urine, and both curbside dumpsters were located in the living room. Debris, soiled diapers, and rubbish covered the majority of the floor. They claimed the house was plagued with flies and cockroaches.

The residence had no running water due to a broken water line over a year ago, so a plastic storage tote was used as a toilet. Officers said that only one empty bag of dog food was discovered in a child’s bedroom.

Police say he showed no concern or guilt for letting the two youngsters live in the house’s circumstances.

Aaliyah Robinson grew quite concerned over the animals being taken, to the point where she was charged with interfering and resisting arrest. They said Dyana Robinson had similar reactions to the animals being taken but was unconcerned about the children’s living conditions.

The bonds on both individuals’ child endangerment and animal cruelty counts are $100,000.

Aariyah Robinson was freed on $1,500 bail on her initial accusations of interfering and resisting arrest on September 25 before being put back into jail with Dyana Robinson on Sunday, September 29.
