Google Messages is one of the world’s most popular messaging services, so popular that corporations such as Samsung and Verizon are abandoning their messaging programs in favor of it. More than 1 billion people use Google Messages every month, and RCS plays a significant role in that experience. We’ve been looking forward to the implementation of quality control while sending photographs, which was originally seen earlier this month.
Android Authority reports that Google Messages has begun to push out the “original quality” media-sharing capability. It is now only available in the beta, but there is a clear indication that all users will have it soon.
Activating the feature is straightforward.
Choose the Media Quality button in the top-right corner of your screen (the HD/HD+ sign).
You’ll have two choices: optimized for conversation and original quality. Select Original quality.
Select your image and click Send.
Optimized for chat sends the image at a lesser resolution and consumes less bandwidth, whilst Original quality sends the image without limits.
This is all there is to it. That amazing photo you took of the sunset will now be available to your pals in all its orange-and-purple beauty, although it may take a little longer to send due to the lack of compression. It’s also worth mentioning that turning on this feature makes it the default for both the current conversation and any other chats. At present, there is no method to set the Original quality for each chat.
The Google Messages app beta 20241118_03_RC00 is currently being rolled out. Depending on the number of difficulties Google needs to resolve before introducing the functionality, it should be available to the general public within a few weeks.
