Fellow Deputy Responsible for Crash That Severely Injured Georgia State Patrol Officer

The Georgia State Patrol recently shared more details about the car chase that seriously hurt a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigator. They said that another RCSO patrol car hit him very quickly.

Reports say that On Oct. 24, while reacting to a car theft on Caldwell Drive, Inv. Christopher Brown, 35, got into a car chase with Hephzibah resident Omarion Rayshaun Steward.

A crash report from GSP says that during the chase, Nicholas Trevon Boyd, a 25-year-old RCSO officer, hit Brown’s car on Gordon Highway.

According to the report, Brown was driving behind Boyd in an unidentified car. When Boyd tried to make a U-turn, he “overshot the turn” and hit Brown’s car on the driver’s side.

GSP says Boyd’s car turned backward and hit a raised concrete median. Brown’s car went off the road and hit a street wall.

The story says that both Boyd and Brown were hurt and taken to Augusta University Hospital.

GSP found that Boyd was to blame for the crash.

There is a GoFundMe page for Brown notes. A story in The Chronicle said that Boyd’s car was going more than 100 miles per hour when it hit Brown’s car. Brown hurt himself badly in many places, including his hips, arms, jaw, leg, and more.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office did not reply right away to The Chronicle’s Wednesday requests for more information.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t said anything about what happened in public yet.
