CHICAGO — Two Chicago individuals have been charged with felony carjacking after allegedly holding a guy at gunpoint on the city’s South Side Friday night.

Randle Archie, 18, of South Chicago, and Mercedes Jones, 18, of the South Shore, have both been charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a pistol, according to Chicago police.

Archie also faces a felony charge of aggravated unauthorized use of a loaded handgun without a FOID card.

According to police, the accusations come from the duo’s involvement in an alleged carjacking that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Escanaba Avenue in South Chicago.

Officers said the two reportedly held a 37-year-old man at gunpoint before stealing his vehicle.

Within 20 minutes of the carjacking, police spotted and arrested Archie and Jones.

On Sunday, the two appeared in court for their detention hearing.
