The application period for the new Summer EBT program for SNAP beneficiaries and other eligible people will soon close. SUN Bucks will close the application window in New York and California soon.
For your information, this program provides $120 in summer meals to school-aged children. Most SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, and comparable beneficiaries received it automatically. However, some eligible receivers are still missing out on the SUN Bucks payment.
Sun Bucks deadline in New York
The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance asserts that eligible beneficiaries can apply for their $120 payment until September 3, 2024. To be qualified for a New York State application, you must:
To qualify for free or reduced-price school meals, students must be enrolled in a school that participates in the NSLP (National School Lunch Program) and have a household income that is at or below the federal poverty line (185%).
Those who believe they are eligible but were not automatically approved can apply for SUN Bucks or Summer EBT in New York online. Simply visit their official website at https://summerebt.ny.gov/en-US/.
SUN Bucks deadline in California
According to the California Department of Social Services, if you do not qualify for SUN Bucks automatically, you may apply until August 31, 2024. Only 48 hours remain to do so.
According to CDSS, if you receive free or reduced-price meals but do not currently receive CalFresh (SNAP), CalWORKS, or Medi-Cal, you must complete the Alternative Income Form.
Meeting the income limitations is also required. Just like in New York, your household must be “certified at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level.” It doesn’t matter if you get your card in August or September. If you are eligible, you will get $120 from the SUN Bucks program for each child. Please check here for information on impending SNAP payments.
