Floyd Mayweather’s Grandson’s Father Receives Shorter Sentence Than Expected!

3 min read

Race Day Live  Rapper NBA Youngboy, the father of Floyd Mayweather’s grandson Kentrell Gauldren Jr., was originally facing 15 years in prison for federal gun charges.

If he had served the full sentence, his son KJ, now three years old, would have been 18 by the time Youngboy was released.

But after pleading guilty in Utah, his sentence has been drastically reduced. Instead of 15 years, he will only serve 12 months of a 27-month sentence.

Celebrity lawyer Bradford Cohen, who has worked with stars like Kodak Black, predicted this outcome.

He explained that Youngboy’s legal team negotiated a plea deal, allowing him to receive credit for time served.

“A global plea of 27 months will be out with credit time served, probably around 12 months. His lawyer did a nice job of resolving the matter successfully,” Cohen stated.

At first, many thought Floyd Mayweather would have to take on more responsibility for KJ if Youngboy served a long sentence.

However, Mayweather had already been spending extra time with his grandson, taking him on shopping trips and to the gym.

Now, Youngboy’s early release means KJ will be able to divide his time between his father and his famous grandfather.

NBA Youngboy, who recently became a father for the twelfth time at just 24 years old, admitted to the court, “I wish to plead guilty to the offense charged.”

His statement, which was widely shared on social media, was part of a successful strategy to avoid a long prison term.

The charges against Youngboy stem from an incident in September 2020 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

As a convicted felon, he is not allowed to own a firearm. Police arrested him during a music video shoot, where he was found in possession of a Glock .45 and a 9 mm handgun.

Authorities later added another charge of illegal gun possession, leading to a legal battle that resulted in moving his case from Louisiana to Utah.

With his sentence now significantly reduced, Youngboy could be released as early as 2025.

If he stays out of trouble during the next 12 months, KJ will soon be able to spend more time with his father.

This outcome provides a second chance for the rapper, who has faced multiple legal issues in the past. For now, his family and fans are hoping he makes the most of this opportunity.
