Race Day Live Dale Folwell, the former State Treasurer of North Carolina, has settled allegations of misusing state vehicles without facing criminal charges.
Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman confirmed the case closure after an investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
The allegations focused on Folwell’s use of state-assigned vehicles for personal errands and commuting during his tenure.
The investigation reviewed his vehicle usage between July 2022 and February 2024. To resolve the matter, Folwell reimbursed the state $6,233.60 to cover commuting costs incurred during this period.
Folwell, a veteran Republican leader, decided against running for re-election as state treasurer in 2024.
Instead, he aimed for the Republican nomination for governor. However, his gubernatorial bid was unsuccessful, losing to Mark Robinson.
