Gas prices in South Carolina have gone down recently, according to GasBuddy.
The latest reports show a decrease of 5.0 cents per gallon over the past week, bringing the state average to $2.77 per gallon.
Cheapest and Most Expensive Gas Stations
GasBuddy collected data from 3,028 fuel stations across the state to determine the price range.
The cheapest gas station recorded a price of $2.41 per gallon, while the most expensive station charged $3.29 per gallon.
This shows a significant price difference of 88 cents per gallon between locations.
Why Are Gas Prices Changing?
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, explained that gas prices across the country have been affected by refinery maintenance and outages, especially on the West Coast.
This has led to price increases in some areas, though South Carolina has seen a drop.
National Gas Price Trends
While South Carolina prices have gone down, the national average price of gas has risen by 2.2 cents per gallon in the past week, now averaging $3.11 per gallon.
Experts warn that price changes could continue in the coming weeks.

De Haan mentioned that with refinery maintenance happening in different regions and the shift to summer gasoline blends, prices may start rising again soon.
