Gas prices in Georgia have dropped again, bringing some relief to drivers at the pump. According to AAA Georgia, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline is now $2.94 per gallon.
This marks a 5-cent decrease from last week, though prices remain 1 cent higher than last month. Compared to last year, Georgia drivers are paying 26 cents less per gallon.
Why Are Gas Prices Dropping?
Montrae Waiters from AAA Georgia explains that the dip in prices is due to lower crude oil costs.
“Because crude oil prices remain low, pump prices have followed suit,” she said. However, she warns that prices might not stay this low for long.
March and April often bring an increase in fuel costs, mainly due to Spring Break travel and the switch to a more expensive summer gasoline blend.
Waiters advise drivers to take advantage of the current lower prices while they last and consider budgeting extra for fuel in the coming months.
County-by-County Gas Prices in Georgia
Gas prices vary by county, with some areas seeing lower rates than others. As of Monday:
- Hall County: $2.93 per gallon
- Banks County: Over $3.05 per gallon (highest average in the area)
- Stephens County: $2.79 per gallon (lowest average in the area)
How Does Georgia Compare to The National Average?
Across the U.S., the average price per gallon is around $3.09, which is also a slight decrease from last week.
This means Georgia’s gas prices remain below the national average, providing additional relief to local drivers.

Will Gas Prices Go Up Again?
While the current trend is downward, experts caution that prices may rise in the coming weeks. Increased travel and seasonal fuel changes often lead to higher prices during spring and summer.
While it’s uncertain how much costs will rise, drivers are encouraged to monitor price trends and plan accordingly.
