High-Speed Drunk Driving Crash Kills Woman, Injures Two in San Antonio; Driver Charged

Race Day Live (Bexar County, TX) – A man who is 51 years old is being charged with intoxication manslaughter after a three-car accident on the Southeast Side that killed an 80-year-old woman.

On Monday morning, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the lady as Virginia Alaniz.

The accident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of South Presa Street and the Southeast Loop 410 access road.

According to the San Antonio police, the suspect was traveling at a fast pace on the frontage road when he crashed into a car that was stopped at a red light, causing it to collide with another car.

According to the police, the suspect was discovered to be driving under the influence and was taken to a hospital. Once released, he will be charged for drunken manslaughter and for the injury to another passenger, according to SAPD.

In the second vehicle, Alaniz was seated in the front right passenger seat. A 21-year-old victim who was in the same vehicle may have a broken leg and was rushed to the hospital. As a precaution, another passenger was also sent to the hospital.
