Illegal Immigrant Charged in Fatal Pennsylvania Hit-and-Run, Victim Identified as Young Musician

Authorities in Pennsylvania have identified a suspect who fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash as an individual residing in the country illegally.

The Allegheny County Police Department has reported the arrest of 25-year-old Saul Rivera-Ramirez in connection with the fatal hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Christian Sluka.

The accident occurred on Saturday night, shortly before 11 p.m., when 911 received a report of a vehicle colliding with a motorcycle.

Authorities reported that Rivera-Ramirez was operating a red Ford Taurus and fled on foot alongside a woman and a young child following the collision.

Rivera-Ramirez is confronted with multiple charges, such as homicide by a vehicle and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Channel 11 received confirmation from Allegheny County police that Rivera-Ramirez is not a citizen of the United States.

“Throughout the investigation, detectives discovered that Rivera-Ramirez is not a citizen of the United States and is an undocumented immigrant.” The department stated, “Detectives reached out to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and we would defer any further questions regarding Rivera-Ramirez’s immigration status to that agency.”

Rivera-Ramire was transported to the Allegheny County Jail awaiting a preliminary arraignment.

“On Saturday, September 21st, we sadly lost a son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friend,” a post from Sydney Goisse stated on a GoFundMe page dedicated to Sluka.

“Christian was a dedicated, industrious, and gifted person, and his absence will profoundly impact his community and family,” the post continued.

Social media posts keep coming in to honor Sluka, who, as noted in a Facebook post from Gold Mountain Music, was the bass player for the band “Osprey.”

Today, I am heartbroken by the passing of the exceptional local talent, Christian Sluka. “He was not only an exceptional bass player but also an outstanding son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friend,” the post stated. He was an essential member of the Gold Mountain Music community and attended nearly every event. If he wasn’t performing with his band Osprey, he was in the audience with his family, always smiling and caring for his little brothers. I will forever appreciate that Christian joined us in the performance, shared laughter with us, offered his support, and exemplified generosity to all he met.
